As
part of the Governance
Structure of the California Teachers
Association,
we have a State Council similar to how LEA has their Rep
Council.
Because of the size of the Council (about 700 reps state-wide),
we meet four times a year. While some CTA local chapters are large
enough to have reps of their own, some CTA local chapters are grouped
by size and region in what is known as a "multiple." Livermore
is part of a multiple with Dublin and Pleasanton. We are known
as Multiple A-2.
In our multiple, we have four State Council Representatives:
• Kelly Sandler, Association of Pleasanton Teachers
• Shelly Fields Tejeda, Livermore Education Association
• Jacquelyn Smith, Association of Pleasanton Teachers
• Tim Sbranti, Dublin Teachers Association
All four of the representatives are elected by the entire tri-valley
and represent all CTA members in the tri-valley area. The four
reps sit together on the floor of state council and help to bring
up issues relevant to the members we represent in the tri-valley.
All State Council Reps are available to all CTA members in the
tri-valley area, but as each local chapter has a rep known by all
of its local members, local members are generally more comfortable
approaching "one of their own." But, all CTA members
should feel confident that their opinions are shared with all four
of the local reps and their opinions are taken all the way to the
Council floor. We also work closely with the State Council Representatives
from San Ramon and others throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.
If you'd like to contact any of the reps, you may do so via e-mail
