Even
though retirees are no longer a part of our Bargaining Unit,
we do our best to assist them whenever we can.
LEA Executive Board approved the election of a Retiree Representative
to our LEA Health Care Committee. After a vote by LEA Retirees
still participating in LEA/LVJUSD health care plans, Grare Davis
was elected to be your representative. You may contact her via
e-mail and/or phone and her information will be here shortly.
The rates for the 2007-2008 school year for retirees are available
on our Health Care Documents page.
Because Option 1 retiree benefits are tied to the benefits
that active members receive, retirees need to keep in touch with
the Association (especially during contract negotiations) to see
what, if anything, is being negotiated that could affect them.
Once our members (who retired after 1992) reach age 65, they may
be eligible to participate in the LEA/LVJUSD Retiree Trust. This
is not the Central Valley Trust (our current Health Care Provider).
The Retiree Trust is a trust fund that was set up in 1991/1992,
is managed by an outside administrator (Marana Benefits Administration),
and currently pays up to $135/month toward LEA retirees' health
care premiums. It is important to know the contract
language that
affects the Trust Fund and to follow any proposed changes. We will
soon be posting information from the LEA Representatives to the
Board of Trustees (LEA's representatives are currently Carl Sorem,
Pat Fischer, and Joan Kral).
